How to Choose an Accredited Service Provider for UAE E-Invoicing

Why choosing the right ASP matters

An Accredited Service Provider, or ASP, plays a central role in UAE e-invoicing. The ASP helps businesses exchange and report electronic invoices according to the UAE framework. Choosing the right ASP is not only a procurement decision. It is a finance, compliance, technology, and business continuity decision.

The Ministry of Finance maintains a list of pre-approved eInvoicing Service Providers. The MoF notes that this list is updated periodically, and final accreditation is granted according to the relevant accreditation procedure.

What does an ASP do?

In the UAE 5-corner model, the supplier’s ASP validates invoice data, converts it into UAE standard XML if required, sends it to the buyer’s ASP, and reports tax data to the Federal Tax Authority. The buyer’s ASP validates the invoice and delivers it to the buyer.

This means the ASP directly affects invoice exchange, validation, reporting, and operational continuity.

Key criteria for ASP selection

The MoF has published guidance on selecting an ASP. Businesses are encouraged to consider experience, company history, Peppol experience, UAE presence, geographical reach, product ownership, support model, integration capability, data management, security, service levels, scalability, and pricing.

For large enterprises, integration capability is especially important. An ASP may provide the compliance connection, but the business still needs to ensure that ERP, AP, AR, tax, procurement, and finance systems can communicate correctly with the ASP.

Questions to ask before selecting an ASP

Businesses should ask: How long has the provider supported e-invoicing? Does it have UAE experience? Can it support our ERP? What are the SLAs? Where is the data hosted? How are errors managed? Can the provider scale with transaction volumes? What support is available during go-live?

Do you still need a system integrator?

In many cases, yes. The ASP may provide the e-invoicing network and reporting function, but businesses often need a system integrator to handle internal ERP readiness, middleware, workflow automation, master data cleanup, AP/AR integration, and analytics.
